Integration Overview

	Integration provides the umbrella topic describing the by-product of a fundamental shift in process, platform and philosophy. This thought community will examine different industries that have shifted from a fragmented and sequential process to an integrated model. Some of the participants observed that the spaces separating each value link represent substantial opportunity for improving integration. Some commented that our paradigm must shift from a value-chain approach to a value-system or ecology mindset. The Agile software movement provides one example for study.
	Integrated Practice provides a means to create a collaborative platform. IP will challenge the current linear sequential process of conventional design and building. IP will require defining new roles, value contribution, contractural relationships, processes and tools to facilitate.
	Developing a common technology platform provides another key leverage opportunity for both integration and shifting the process.
	Matrix impact chart – will show the interconnections and interdependencies obscured by a linear heirarchical approch.
	Web Tools for End-users – There is a lot of routine knowledge that can be web enabled to aid clients and prospects through their decision process. The goal is to make the process simpler and more transparent.
	Systems Analysis– the current model is an eco-system of self-supporting components. Even though dysfunctional it is a holistic system. System’s analysis provide an tool to analyze the vicious cycles and disconnects of the current model.
	Virtual Collaboration - Wiki software provides a tool to easily collect research, allow members to comment and/or edit the material and keep the team informed of the status of deliverables and upcoming events.
